Extra Curricular Activities

Enhancing the curriculum.

Enriching young lives by stretching body and mind – that’s how we see the outstanding range of extra-curricular clubs, activities and trips at Cumnor House.

It is widely acknowledged in education that it is more than academic achievements and excellent grades that makes a well-rounded individual who will thrive throughout their educative years and onward throughout their career.

Our boys and girls benefit from an extensive extra-curricular programme that enables them to try new sports and activities, and flourish in a collaborative environment.

Pursuing new interests and developing essential skills.

At both Cumnor Girls and Cumnor Boys, we expose all our children to the widest range possible of extra-curricular activities in order to nurture their sometimes hidden talents and bring out numerous positive characteristics which contribute to their overall success at Cumnor House School.

Extra-curricular clubs give pupils the opportunity to grow social skills, encourage team work, build confidence, encourage problem solving, develop creativity and promote wellbeing and mindfulness.

Specialist clubs that stand Cumnor House apart from other schools.

Games are central to school life at Cumnor House and our students love to continue with extra-curricular activities that range from swimming to football to table-tennis.

Wellbeing & Mindfulness

Promoting wellbeing, students are encouraged to find their inner calm with activities that include mindful yoga and mindful Lego run by trained art and Lego therapists.

Chess club

Chess club provides an opportunity to meet new friends and boost social interaction, without any requirement or expectation to be at a certain level of skill.

Drama club

Taking place after school and at weekends, our popular Drama club enables students to craft their acting skills and engage critical thinking skills.

Developing skills and character through new experiences.

At Cumnor House we place great importance on enriching the academic curriculum and providing experiences that allow children to grow as individuals as well as gain a deeper understanding of the topics they are learning.

Throughout the year pupils will be given the opportunity to take part in:

  • Day trips related to the curriculum such as Hampton Court Palace, the Tower of London and Bocketts Farm.

  • Overnight residentials with our partners at Cuffley Active Learning Centre to take part in team-building activities and outdoor adventures.

  • European visits such as the Boys’ Year 7 trip to Paris to learn more about global culture.

  • The annual Cumnor House ski trip.

  • Music and Sporting tours.

The teacher-pupil relationships as well as peer relationships our son has formed are excellent. He is really being stretched to achieve his own potential, rather than being regarded as a statistic.

– Cumnor House Parent

Available from 7:30am - 6:00pm.

We offer a range of services to help parents with their out of school hours childcare needs, including Breakfast Club and Tea-Time Club for our children at Kindergarten & Pre-School, and Before and After School Club for students at our Boys' and Girls' Schools.

If you have children at both schools, we recognise that it is not possible for you to be in two places at once to drop off and pick up your children. That’s why we operate regular shuttle bus services between the sites before and after school. This service is not pre-bookable and is free of charge.
