Admissions Process

Learn more about the admissions process and how to secure a place at Cumnor House Nursery, Cumnor House Boys' School and Cumnor House Girls' School.

Thank you for your interest in our school. During this time, we are changing the way we are working to provide parents with the peace of mind that they can still plan for their child’s educational future.

We hope that our website, videos and virtual tours give you a flavour of what the school has to offer. We will be delighted to show you around just as soon as we can.

In the first instance, please do get in touch with our Admissions Team via the form below, tell us more about your child and let us tell you more about our Admission Process, our school and what we have to offer.

The admissions process is simple and designed to give assurance to you and your child that their educational ambitions are our focus too.  There is no catchment area and while many of our children are local, we do have children who travel in from as far as Canary Wharf, Streatham, Clapham and Crawley.

You will be guided every step of the way by our Admissions Team. Children are welcome to join us at any time during the school year and into any year group, if a place is available. Please do not hesitate to contact the team at admissions@cumnorhouse.com or call us on 020 8660 3445 or complete the enquiry form to the right and we will be in touch.

Step 1

Make an Enquiry & View Our Virtual Tour

Tell us a little about your child by filling in the book a visit form. We will send you a digital copy of our School Magazine and our Admissions Team will be in touch to discuss your interest in the school.

Step 2

Meet the Headteacher on Skype

Following an initial conversation, our Admissions Team will be happy to arrange a Skype call with the Headteacher to discuss the needs of your child and explain more about our educational offering.

For applications to our Reception – Year 8 year groups; Our Headmistress, Mrs Amanda McShane, at the Girls’ School, and our Executive Headmaster, Mr Mike Seaton, at the Boys’ School, will also be delighted to discuss your child’s educational career with you.

For application to our nurseries; Our Head of Early Years, Mrs Eloise Upfold will be delighted to speak with you virtually to discuss your child’s application and to speak further about our two nurseries settings.

To book a personal meeting with our Headteachers or Head of Early Years – please contact the Admissions team at admissions@cumnorhouse.com, call us on 020 8660 3445 or book online.

Step 3

Application & Assessment

If you would like to proceed with an application, we may ask your child to complete an online assessment and/or meet the Headteacher on a Skype call. This can be arranged as we continue to speak throughout the process.

Step 4

Accept the Offer

Once an offer has been made to you in writing, along with other paperwork which you are required to complete to secure your child’s submission, we would ask that you return this within 7 days of receipt to confirm acceptance of a place.  You will be required to pay a deposit, which is refunded to you when your child leaves the school.

Step 5

Your Child’s First Day at Cumnor House School

If your child is due to start at Cumnor House once the school year has started, there is no need to feel apprehensive about how they will settle in. If they are starting after the start of the first term, you can rest assured that from the moment they arrive, another child from their class will be given the role of their ‘buddy’ and will make sure they are never alone.  Of course the teachers too will take extra special care to make sure they soon feel part of the Cumnor House family.
