The admissions process is simple and designed to give assurance to you and your child that their educational ambitions are our focus too. There is no catchment area and while many of our children are local, we do have children who travel in from as far as Canary Wharf, East Grinstead and Crawley.
You will be guided every step of the way by our Admissions Team. Children are welcome to join us at any time during the school year and into any year group, if a place is available. Please do not hesitate to contact the team at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 020 8660 3445 or complete the enquiry form to the right and we will be in touch.
Contact our Admissions team, Simone or Myco to discuss your educational plans for your child.
This may be on one of our advertised open mornings or you may prefer to arrange a private guided tour. A personal tour, this will give you the opportunity to meet some of the children, speak to the teachers and get a general feel for school life.
Our Headmistress, Mrs Amanda McShane, at the Girls’ School, and our Headmaster, Mr Daniel Cummings, at the Boys’ School, will also be delighted to discuss your child’s educational career with you.
We have a private co-educational Nursery split across two sites. Both Ofsted and ISI (the Independent Schools Inspectorate) say Cumnor House Nursery is “outstanding”. The Nursery Manager will be delighted to show you round our Pampisford Road and Woodcote Lane settings.
At Reception, girls move from Nursery to a delightful Early Years environment at the Girls’ School on Woodcote Lane, while boys’ Reception is located at the Woodcote Lane Nursery site (rather than the main Boys’ School opposite), which provides them with the benefit of a bespoke transitional year before they move across to the main Boys’ School when they are five (Year 1).
Assessment and Registration
Should you wish to apply for a place at either school or nursery, you will also be asked to complete a registration form and pay a £50 registration fee.
We also like to meet the children for assessment before we offer a place, to ensure that any special requirements or needs can be catered for. We will then make an offer of a place once prospective families have visited us.
Accept the Offer
Once an offer has been made to you in writing, along with other paperwork which you are required to complete to secure your child’s submission, we would ask that you return this within 7 days of receipt to confirm acceptance of a place. You will be required to pay a deposit, which is refunded to you when your child leaves the school.
Your Child’s First Day at Cumnor House School
If your child is due to start at Cumnor House once the school year has started, there is no need to feel apprehensive about how they will settle in. If they are starting after the start of the first term, you can rest assured that from the moment they arrive, another child from their class will be given the role of their ‘buddy’ and will make sure they are never alone. Of course the teachers too will take extra special care to make sure they soon feel part of the Cumnor House family.
