Match Reports: Cumnor House vs. The Hawthorns School
U9A: Won 40-25
A great result in some very cold and wet conditions. A much improved performance on tackling gave the boys more attacking chances which they capitalised on.
Target for next week – giving the ball carrier more support and quicker defensive organisation.
U9B: Won 35-20
A great first contact match for the B team. Some powerful ball carrying and careful passing resulted in 8 tries. The tackling was good, but will be our focus for training next week.
U9C: Won 55-50
A great start to contact rugby in such tough conditions! The boys demonstrated their ability with a number of solo try scoring runs, tallying up to a massive 17 tries scored. Our line speed was particularly impressive forcing the opposition into a number of knock-ons,
but we lacked the intelligence to deal with very quick opposition players. Great start, well done boys!
U9D: Won 50-25
An outstanding performance. Considering this was their first fixture of the season, the U9D team played with maturity and togetherness. Cumnor were clinical when they had the ball and were relentless in their try-scoring. Defensively there are a few things to work on during
training, but managing to make a 7-tackle turnover less than 5 metres from our try line demonstrated that the boys have the capability to be more defensively solid.
We would like to thank The Hawthorns School for being excellent hosts on a freezing cold afternoon
