Shrewsbury House Rugby Festival

The Shewsbury House Rugby Festival, saw our U9A and U10A teams compete against a host of other local schools this weekend.
After a trying start to the U9A’s festival, with two players side-lined due to illness and a poor warm up. The U9s dug deep to bring the team together and produce some great rugby throughout the course of the day. Taking to the field with only seven players available from an original squad of 10 and with players who were taking to the field as first time ‘A’ team players, the boys took a little while to get going, losing to Kings House, then drawing with KCS in the first two fixtures.  A very tight game against Daneshill followed, which Cumnor were unlucky not to win. As the festival continued Cumnor managed to get the passing game going and at one point strung a series of 14 passes together before scoring. The
tackling from London and Karthikeyan was relentless who created so many chances to get the ball back. In the final two matches Cumnor completed a 7 Tackle turnover, which is incredibly hard to accomplish. Both times this resulted in Cumnor scoring with the next play to win the game.A great effort from all of the boys involved and they should be very proud of themselves.
Kings House — Lost 15-25
KCS Wimbledon — Draw 20-20
Danes Hill — Lost 15-20
Northcote — Won 20-15

Lodge Aldro — Lost 15-20

A fantastic start to the season for the U10A side who improved throughout the tournament.
I cannot fault the enthusiasm and effort from all players. It was impressive to only concede 3 tries in 5 matches against a strong calibre of opposition. We ran strongly with the ball with great team input and were resolute in defence. We will continue to work on our line speed in defence and rucking to keep our own ball.
St Columba’s College — Draw 5 – 5
St Piran’s — Won 5 – 0
Northcote Lodge (U10B) — Won 10 – 0
Shrewsbury House (U10B) — Won 35 – 0
Cranmore — Lost 5 – 10
