Find out how we will mark work and assess progress whilst we are teaching online

All work that is set is expected to be uploaded to the appropriate platform. Individual teachers will make clear the expectations for submitting work.

Feedback, marking and assessment will continue in line with our school policy. During synchronous teaching, verbal feedback will be given to pupils, during asynchronous teaching work will be marked and feedback will be given on a regular basis. This will be delivered in a variety of age-appropriate methods and may include verbal feedback, audio messages and written feedback. This will not always be after each lesson and will sometimes conclude a number of lessons or specific teaching topic. However, as pupils will be asked to submit their work after each lesson the work will be acknowledged through Seesaw and Firefly and all teachers have the facility to keep an online mark book to record marking, feedback and track completed work.

Teaching staff will continue to assess, monitor and track progress and attainment and where there are concerns they will follow up directly with parents.

As this is a particularly important term for Year 5 they will continue 11+ preparation which will take place in 2 of their 5 lessons for English and 2 of their 5 lessons for Maths each week. The first lesson will be a practice paper or specific questions and the second lesson will consist of working through the papers and answers. There will also be an opportunity for 11+ and 13+ Practice Clubs as well as VR and NVR sessions.

Termly assessment will continue with the end of unit/term assessments set by the teacher during a lesson. We will notify pupils when they will need to work under exam conditions so that we have a realistic picture of their attainment and progress. These assessment results will be shared with pupils and they will be given areas of improvement to continue to work on. This will also continue to inform future planning for teaching and learning.
