Year 3 Music Scheme
We are pleased to be able to continue the Year 3 Music Instrumental Scheme using online video calls with our instrumental teachers. These lessons will take place weekly either in small groups (in the same way they would in school) or through shorter one-to-one sessions. The length of these sessions may vary slightly from instrument to instrument at the teacher’s discretion. Over the coming week, you will receive an email from the music department containing the time of your son’s lesson and a link to the call. Please make a note of the time and day. The link should be clicked at the correct time, following which you will be granted access to the meeting by your son’s teacher. We expect lessons to commence in the week beginning 27th April.
If your son receives private instrumental lessons in school, you may be aware that these lessons have already begun to run remotely via video calling on Microsoft Teams. These lessons have been very successful so far and we are very pleased to continue to support the boys’ progress (and routines) in music this way. To date, families have used new log-in details to access Teams and ‘join’ their lesson – however, we will shortly be moving to a new method to make this process simpler for boys and parents. We will soon be emailing out links to parents that should instead be clicked at the time of the lesson. Following this, you will be added to ‘the lobby’ and your teacher will admit you to the lesson at the appropriate time – log-in details will no longer be required.
LAMDA lessons will be on offer via the ‘Teams’ platform. These will operate in much the same way as the remote music lessons – e.g. the lesson time and link to the meeting will be emailed to families in the coming week.
Over the course of a normal school week, there are a variety of activities that take place at break times, lunchtimes and after school. As well as the exciting pastoral events taking place, we are in the process of implementing a programme of different activities that the boys can participate in during the last session of the day between 3:30pm and 4.15pm. Enrolment into these activities will open at the end of the first week of the summer term.
PSHE is a subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, to manage life’s challenges and to make the most of life’s opportunities. It is important that during this period of Online Learning we continue to have a focus on this subject. All pupils will continue to be taught an explicit PSHE lesson each week. We aim to use synchronous lessons for this subject as we strongly believe that personal contact is vital when communicating and contributing to this area of their learning.
