Headmaster’s Weekly Message – Week One

Two weeks into the new term at Cumnor and life appears to be settling down well. Feedback from parents, teachers and children regarding our new exciting curriculum changes is very positive and the children are particularly enjoying the opportunity to focus on tasks for longer. The reduced movement and lesson changes are also helping to create a calmer atmosphere with a strong learning focus and in turn a happier school with continued educational drive which will ensure improved results.

I have greatly enjoyed seeing those parents that have attended information meetings for their children, it is vital that as a school we work in collaboration with you as parents, to develop and support our children. Honest and transparent communication is a true goal of mine in my role as Headmaster, please do come and speak to teachers, leadership team or myself if you have concerns.

After week one we have already set out our stall for the busy year ahead with our first new Year 4 residential, Friday’s Year 3 brilliant residential and our weekly sporting fixtures and the Year 3 peripatetic music programme are all under way. It is worth noting that all of these brilliant opportunities are included in fees, which is not the case for all schools and in my opinion shows great value for money.

In last Monday’s assembly I shared a short inspirational video about Zion Clark a 21 year wrestler in America who has the mantra of ‘No Excuses’. At Cumnor House this year I have challenged the boys to have no excuses and to achieve as a result. Please take this opportunity to watch the video.
