Dear Parents,
The children have been busy learning, exploring and preparing for the next exciting stage of their school life.
This half term our book themes are ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle and ‘Superworm’ by Julia Donaldson.
Our topic is ‘Mini Beasts’. The children have been fascinated with this and have learnt some interesting facts about bugs and insects. Did you know Ladybirds bleed from their legs when scared and Ants can carry between 10-50 times their body weight?
They have also been exploring our nature garden, looking for all different kind of bugs and insects, and using the resources within the garden to build a little house to keep them safe. We have also been talking to them about the importance of showing care and concern for living things and the environment. The children have been learning a very big word ‘Metamorphosis’ to describe how a caterpillar changes into a butterfly.
They have also been using their book theme and topic to learn about different sizes and measurements.
Both classes are preparing for their summer concert and sports day. Please see below for dates for your diary:
