Headmaster’s Weekly Blog – 14.06.2019
We are moving rapidly to the end of term. When the weather allows, the boys have been completing many activities; Year 8 have spent the week on a very rainy leavers residential, final preparations are underway for the Langley concert and this year’s Choir trip to Paris. Despite the weather I am pleased to say our training choir performed beautifully at the opening of the Purely Food & Drink Festival. Thank you to the parents and staff that attended.
This week we hosted the Cumnor House Art Exhibition, with a theme of footwear or shoes. The work on display was interesting and stylised differently for each year group. I hope all that attended enjoyed the experience. Thank you to Mrs Mitchells and the teachers for their hard work organising such a successful event.
Mrs Nevill has been working very hard at the half price Book Fair this week and I thank her for her efforts. Many parents speak to me regarding pupil progress in English and my advice is always the same, before you can be a writer, you must read many books. The experience of reading for enjoyment, and discussing what you have read with friends and family, can never be underestimated.
It was a pleasure to meet many Nursery parents at the Head’s Breakfast on Wednesday. A’yaan (Year 7) spoke thoughtfully and eloquently about his time at Cumnor and I hope you enjoyed his thoughts as much as I did.
With just three weeks left of term, there are still many upcoming events to enjoy including Sports Days, Parent Association Summer Fayre, Langley Concert and Speech Day. Please keep up to date with the online School Calendar and Parentmails, as these will help ensure you have the most accurate information.
Have a great weekend.
Mr Daniel Cummings
