Headmaster’s Message – 1st March 2019
Half term feels a long time ago, especially when you work at a school as fast paced as Cumnor House. The week has flown by and I have had the privilege of visiting many classes this week to see the hard work and learning of our boys.
Reading with Reception and Nursery each week is a true highlight and this week RS impressed me with their scientific knowledge, as we shared a book about rockets and a trip to the moon. Interestingly, Mrs Marange is currently busy preparing lots of great activities for science week, which is only a few weeks away.
Miss Lloyd continued our curricular engagement, series of events, with another well supported evening sharing the ethos and structure for teaching of English at Cumnor House on Wednesday evening. She is also supporting our teachers prepare for World Book Day, next Thursday.
Reading is a life skill that opens many doors and many other curricular areas, it is vital that children experience high quality texts and discuss their reading. So if you do one thing with your child this week, please share a book with them, regardless of age and reading ability.
I hope we haven’t seen the last of the recent improved weather as there are many fixtures arranged for the weekend that our boys are looking forward to – good luck to all that are representing the school.
“Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn
Have a great week.
