U9 Summer Cricket Success

“Nine Cumnor boys made up the majority of the thirteen player squad
for the Old Whitgiftians Under 9 cricket team last summer. The Surrey
divisions are always of a very high standard with teams having been
established for decades.
The team played 10 league games and won every match, breaking
several records along the way. They won the league with games to spare
but in true Cumnor spirit carried on competing to be the best they can
be and obtain the maximum points possible. They went on to reach the
unprecedented maximum 40 points.
As league champions they now had to represent the zone in the NEC
under 9s finals against Spencer CC. They put the opposition in to bat
and restricted them to a score of just 201 with the Cumnor boys taking
majority of the wickets. Old Whits then went into bat and intelligently
closed off the game winning by a margin of 60 runs, again with the first 6
batsmen being Cumnor boys.
An amazing record breaking season topped off with a huge victory in the
final. Well done to the Invincibles!!”
