Preparing for success

The Upper School tailors study to your son's academic ability in order to give him the very best preparation for entrance into the senior school of his choice.

The majority of boys at 11+ transfer to the two Whitgift Foundation schools, Trinity or Whitgift, or the local Grammar schools. At 13+ many other options become available including Charterhouse, Tonbridge, Winchester, Eton, Harrow, Westminster, Caterham, Dulwich, Royal Russell and Epsom.

Boys enter the Upper School in Year 6, aged ten. Those who stay until they are thirteen and can work at a more advanced pace join the Scholarship group. Others are prepared for 11+ or 13+ common entrance exams.

Your son is given the best possible individual support through specialist teachers in small classes. The Form Tutor fulfils the pastoral role and provides that important link between home and school.

All Year Groups follow the broad and balanced curriculum established in the Lower School of Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, French, RE, ICT, Music, Art and Design, PE, Swimming and Games. Latin is taught in the Scholarship classes.

As well as all the sporting and musical opportunites, Your son can also choose from a number of other after-school options such as Electronics, Current Affairs, Japanese, Spanish, Mandarin, Drama, Table Tennis, Water Sports, Golf and Chess.
