A message from the President

Welcome to our own section of the website. We are Jessica Blain (President), Monica Moscarello (Vice-President). Our list of class reps is attached. They are your first point of contact, if you cannot track one of us down.

The PA has its own notice board which is located on the wall in the tunnel entrance to the school. Please keep a look out for notices of forthcoming events.

Most of you, I am sure, are fully aware of the PA and what it actually does but for those of you who are unsure; the PA's role is to organise fun things for the children and parents throughout the year and, at the same time, raise money to benefit the children in the school. I am sure we all agree that the teachers work extremely hard at what they do and we would rather they carry on making our children into little Brains of Britain and leave us to do the fun bits. This money is then put towards little (or big) luxuries that all the children can enjoy. For example, last year's committee raised enough money for new playground markings, which will give the boys a lot of fun at playtime.

We can only carry on our role with your continued support and help. We don't mean financially, we mean by giving us a little bit of your time, even if it's only one hour per year. We know that many of you hold down full-time jobs as well as running a family, but you can help too by just donating some cakes, used school uniform or by just sending your child along to events with another adult so that he doesn't miss out on anything.

The Parents' Association is there to fund the fun times and the luxuries that go towards making the school an even more wonderful environment for our children to learn and flourish. Any help that you can give the committee will be welcomed with open arms.

Sunday 13 June - PA BBQ

Great fun was had by parents, children, staff and friends alike at the school BBQ and fete on Sunday. Our playing fields were transformed into a wonderful fairground with a bucking broncho, human football table, gladiator demolition ball, bouncy castle and lots, lots more. After the BBQ, the children enjoyed the side stalls selling ice creams and kids’ cocktails, whilst the parents sipped Pimms, ate water melon and enjoyed the sounds of Tech Music supplied by A Passion For...

Friday 28th May - Charity Morning

On Friday 28 May we held our Charity Morning in aid of local charity The Garwood Foundation. The Croydon based charity provide care and other services for adults and children with cerebral palsy and related disabilities.

A new format this year saw the whole school community from the Headmaster to the youngest Reception child – and all in between – take to a half mile-long running circuit to run or walk as many laps as possible and raise money for this very worthy charity. The boys had worked long and hard to gain sponsorship for the event, as well as donning costumes of various descriptions to add to the enjoyment of the occasion.

After the run over 400 balloons were launched and the boys looked up in wonder as they floated off into the sky to unknown destinations which will be plotted over the coming weeks. A Passion For.. (SuperCamps) very kindly sponsored the balloons.

It is always an enormous privilege to raise money for a charity that provides such a crucial service in the local community. We hope to raise in the excess of £6,500.

Abba Dinner Dance

The Parents’ Association ‘Abba’ Dinner Dance on the final day of last term was a tremendous success and a really memorable occasion. The venue at the Hilton Hotel was ideal for the occasion, the tribute band was terrific, the dance floor was rocking and great fun was had by all. Look out for some photographs in the next weekly newsletter and try and spot the Frida and Agnetha ‘wannabees’! I am sure I speak for all those who attended in extending a big, big ‘thank you’ to PA President and Vice President, Jessica Blain and Monica Moscarello respectively, for their unstinting hard work organising the event.
