Speaking Out

Drama at Cumnor House is one of the many ways we find of making learning come alive.

Drama is taught as part of the English curriculum and boys are given many opportunities during lessons to develop their skills through empathy and improvisation tasks, and through reading and performing play-scripts. We hold a Public Speaking competition in the summer term. All boys in Years 3 - 8 participate in preliminary rounds in class, with the winners competing in an exciting and entertaining final attended by the whole school.

Junior and Senior Drama Clubs are run after school and each year we stage two major productions. The Junior production usually consists of several short plays or sketches involving as many boys as possible. The Senior production is generally a musical, with opportunities to play a main role or be part of the chorus.
